One of the largest private aquariums in Europe is located downtown. For 2 hours, head to the depths of the oceans and meet 12,000 marine animals. In 3 million liters of sea water, from delicate jellyfish to fascinating sharks. (tickets available at reception)
On the coast, south of Boyardville, is the Fort Royer Oyster Site. You’ll enjoy a beautiful and fun guided tour through a green oasis, ran by seven oyster farmers. There, you will learn all that there is to know about the oyster: you will tour the huts and the functioning establishment and watch a film on oyster farming from 1907.
Fort Boyard is not open to the public, but there are many boat tours that will give you a beautiful view, such as the Croisières Inter-îles. You will navigate between the Ile d’Aix and the Ile Oléron and get up close to the famous “stone ship”. Boat tours leave from Boyardville and Saint-Denis-d’Oléron (Ile d’Oléron)
